Dear
Friend,
If you’re like most men, when
it comes to prostate problems, it’s
not a question of if … it’s
a question of when.
By age 50, half of all men have
an enlarged prostate. By age 80,
that number jumps to 80%! One man
in six will be diagnosed with prostate
cancer in his lifetime. One in 30
will die from it.
I’m Dr. Marc Garnick, and
as a physician I’ve treated
thousands of men with prostate problems
including prostate cancer, enlarged
prostate (BPH), and prostatitis.
I know how important it is for men
to have in-depth and reliable information
to make informed treatment choices.
I also know that the search for
this information can be difficult
and frustrating. Most patient-education
brochures and primers offer only
the basics. The few in-depth Web
sites and newsletters often provide
information that may be biased in
favor of one treatment over another,
often because of commercial support.
And where can you share the experiences
of men, real people, who have actually
been diagnosed with and treated for
prostate disease?
Introducing Perspectives
on Prostate Disease
That’s why I am honored to
be the editor in chief of a new publication, Perspectives
on Prostate Disease,
from Harvard Medical School. The
mission of this quarterly bulletin
is to provide you with multiple perspectives
on how best to treat prostate disease,
including prostate cancer, benign
prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and
prostatitis, as well as erectile
dysfunction and low testosterone
levels.
Perspectives on Prostate
Disease delivers authoritative,
evidence-based research and practical
guidance for effectively addressing
a prostate disorder while controlling
side effects and maintaining quality
of life. From examining breakthroughs
in screening to progress in palliative
care, from the latest research
advances to interviews with medical
experts and patients, this new
publication will empower you to
take the fullest benefit from today’s
advances.
Each issue brings unique features
such as…
- Roundtable Discussions: Join
a group of Harvard physicians as
they discuss and debate key issues
in the diagnosis and treatment
of prostate disease. You’ll
have the benefit of expert viewpoints
from a number of experts in the
field.
- Patient Interviews: Benefit
from the shared experiences of
men who have confronted prostate
disease. In candid conversations,
they’ll relate how they made
their decisions on treatment options,
what they experienced during recovery,
and whether they would make the
same decision again!
- Prostate Cancer News
and Research Findings: Every
day there’s progress being
made in research facilities and
hospitals in the U.S., Europe
and around the world. Be among
the first to know about breakthroughs
that you won’t hear about
on the 6 o’clock news.
